Agreement signed on cooperation between EKO ZH and the Office of the Government of the West Herzegovina County for European Integration within the project financed by the European Union.

Within the cross-border project “YOUth drive” – Program for raising awareness on proper waste management and environmental protection, a cooperation agreement was signed between project manager Lucija Kvesić and the director of the West Herzegovina County Government Office for European Integration Ivan Jurilj.

The Office of the Government of the West Herzegovina County has recognized the importance of this project, and in the previous period provided comprehensive support to project holders in the implementation of project activities, thus further confirming the existing cooperation.

The significance of the project, funded by the European Union in the amount of about 232,000 euros, is in the contribution to the development of the social community, raising the awareness of citizens about the importance of proper waste management and environmental protection. The project works to raise awareness among young people in the cross-border area of ​​Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Also, the project will create a basis for improvement and refinement of existing legislation in the field of environmental protection and waste management, remove several located illegal landfills as an example of positive practice, set up bins for electronic waste.

The Director of the West Herzegovina County Government Office for European Integration, Mr. Ivan Jurilj, emphasized the importance of such projects and the support of institutions for their implementation, as well as the importance of the project whose goals fit into ZZH strategic documents on proper waste management and environmental protection.

The project is implemented within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro, funded by the European Union. The project partners are NGO-s, the Association for Development, Environment and Culture EKO ZH from Siroki Brijeg as the project promoter, and Our Action, a non-governmental organization from Montenegro, based in Kotor.

The realization of the project will take place in the period from 15.11.2019 – 15.05.2021., while the total value of the project is 279,200 euros.
