Projectors and tablets for schools in West Herzegovina County donated by the EU
Eight schools in West Herzegovina County received 8 projectors and 8 tablets that will facilitate access to online teaching for students in the West Herzegovina County. Equipment worth EUR 7,600 is provided by the European Union as part of a project that contributes to raising the awareness of young people about proper waste disposal and environmental protection. Due to the new circumstances with COVID 19 schools went remote, the equipment will help students to online schooling.
The donation was handed over on May 29, 2020. in Siroki Brijeg, in the premises of the West Herzegovina County Assembly, to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Ružica Mikulić, who said:
“Thank you for the valuable donation that will be used for the benefit of our students and educational process which, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, had to be moved from direct learning to distance learning.
Once again, Eko ZH shows that it is a serious association that at any time recognizes the needs of society and therefore acts concretely and actively not only in terms of raising environmental awareness but also in terms of overall social responsibility, which was recognized by the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The “YOUth drive” project funded by the EU will contribute to the proper management of waste and the proper disposal of waste. In cooperation with schools, the project will primarily address the awareness of young people who should influence on raising public awareness of environmental protection by their knowledge and actions in the future. The project will also form a basis for improving and refining existing legislation in this area.
The “YOUTH DRIVE – Program to raise awareness of proper waste management and empower the legislators to act” is implemented under the IPA cross-border cooperation program Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro, funded by the European Union with more than EUR 232,000. Project partners are NGO-s, the Association for Development, Environment and Culture EKO ZH from Siroki Brijeg as project holder, and Our Action, a non-governmental organization from Montenegro based in Kotor.
The project will be implemented in the period from 15.11.2019. – 15.05.2021., while the total value of the project is 279,200 EUR.
