As of today, the Municipality of Herceg Novi and the non-governmental organization “Our Action” are officially cooperating on the project “YOUth Drive – Program for raising awareness on proper waste management and empowering decision makers to take action”. The agreement on cooperation was signed by the President of the Municipality Stevan Katic and the project manager Patricija Pobrić, who on that occasion discussed the activities on the project itself and the benefits brought by the partnership between the local government and the non-governmental sector.

Thanks to this project, Herceg Novi will receive eight containers and collection bins for electronic waste, which will be handed over to the company “Čistoća”. In addition, educational activities for young people will be organized.

In addition to Katić and Pobrić, the meeting was attended by the Vice President of the Municipality Danijela Đurović, the Head of the Office for International Cooperation Simonida Kordić and the Director of the company “Čistoća” Vladimir Arsić.

The participants expressed satisfaction with the established partnership, which is based on common goals in the field of ecology, strengthening activism and volunteerism of young people.

“The municipality of Herceg Novi is recognized as a reliable partner, given that we have a large number of projects financed from IPA funds,” said Katic. He assessed that this is a significant project for our city and thanked the non-governmental organization “Our Action” for initiating cooperation.

“The goal is to strengthen the local community on the topic of proper waste disposal and support the local community in improving waste disposal,” Pobrić pointed out after the meeting.

The agreement defines that the Municipality of Herceg Novi will participate in project activities during this and next year, which contribute to the development of the community and strengthen the awareness of citizens, especially young people, about the importance of proper waste management.

The project is funded by the European Union in the amount of over 230,000 euros, with the aim of raising awareness among young people about the proper disposal of waste and environmental protection in the cross-border area of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project “Y O U t h d r i v e” raising environmental awareness, and initiating concrete actions in the West Herzegovina and the Bay of Kotor is implemented within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro, funded by the European Union. The project partners are non-governmental organizations, the Association for Development, Environment and Culture EKO ZH from Široki Brijeg as the project holder, and Naša akcija, based in Kotor.
