The Info Days were held during the period from 04-16 June, where the future activities that will be carried out through a project in the territory of the and Bokotorska Bay have been presented.
A total of 192 schools in the territory of the West Herzegovina County and Bokokotorska Bay will be included in the “Y O U t h drive” project through education for students from sixth to ninth grade and high school students. As part of the project, schools will receive 320 containers for electronic waste and 8 containers, which will be placed in the appropriate place. The project will also organize waste collection campaigns at identified wild landfills in consultation with cities and municipalities, and a survey on the situation on the ground will be conducted, which may be a guideline for future activities.
The project is funded by the European Union of over 230,000 euros, to raise awareness among young people about the proper disposal of waste and environmental protection in the cross-border area of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project aims are to contribute actively to the proper management of waste and will also work on the protection of waterways in areas included in project activities. In cooperation with schools, the project will primarily affect the awareness of young people, who, through their knowledge and action in the future, should influence society’s awareness of the need to protect the environment. Also, the project will create a basis for the improvement and refinement of existing legal regulations in this area, and a web platform will also be launched at which different information on the project will be exchanged.
The “YOUth drive” project raising environmental awareness, and initiating concrete actions in the West Herzegovina County and Bokokotorska Bay is implemented within the IPA cross-border cooperation program Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro, funded by the European Union.
